Research:
This project focused on three main research activities conducted during a visiting period at the Hesburgh Library. First, the library’s extensive Music Collection was instrumental in finalizing the critical edition of Due volgarizzamenti dell’Ars pratica mensurabilis cantus secundum Johannem de Muris’, currently in press. Second, research on the early print tradition of Domenico Cavalca’s Vite dei santi Padri and its circulation of the Vision of Tnugdalus greatly benefited from the Medieval Institute’s catalogues. Finally, an examination of Latin and Italian manuscripts in the Rare Books and Special Collections department revealed new insights on the future of philological and linguistic study. These findings will contribute to forthcoming publications on medieval and Renaissance manuscript traditions.

Research:
This project examined the allegorical interpretation in Dante’s works from the medieval period to contemporary scholarship. With the extensive resources available on Dante and medieval criticism at the Hesburgh Library and the Medieval Institute, the research refined the scope of analysis and facilitated the drafting of three dissertation chapters on allegorical hermeneutics. Additionally, selected texts were digitized and prepared for integration into the Database Allegorico Dantesco, a digital resource for querying scholarship in allegory in the Divine Comedy. These findings will contribute to ongoing research in medieval literary studies and digital humanities.
