The Center for Italian Studies invites you to the international conference Il testo della Vita nova: Questioni linguistiche, filologiche ed esegetiche, organized in collaboration with the Università degli Studi di Bergamo. The event brings together leading scholars to discuss new perspectives on Dante’s Vita nova, with sessions dedicated to textual tradition, lexicon, syntax, narrative structure, and biblical and metaliterary frameworks.
The event is organized by Zygmunt G. Barański (University of Cambridge / University of Notre Dame) and Luca Lombardo (Università degli Studi di Bergamo), with the participation of scholars from Bergamo, Bologna, Cambridge, Cork, Fribourg, Rome, Venice, and Notre Dame.

Monday, October 20, 2025 (14:30–18:15): Opening remarks by Zygmunt G. Barański; sessions on textual tradition, lexicon, and syntax.

Tuesday, October 21, 2025 (9:00–17:45): Sessions on hapax, the relation between prose and poetry, figures of Dante, and structural and biblical frameworks, concluding with remarks by Luca Lombardo.
