The Center Italian Studies is pleased to announce a new study by External Center Affiliate Professor Yuri Brunello of the Universidade Federal do Ceará. The study, entitled 'O Dante Alighieri de Machado de Assis: O Inferno XXV entre crítica textual e tradução', focuses on the nineteenth-century translation of Canto XXV of Dante's Inferno by the Brazilian writer Machado de Assis. Brunello's article aims to demonstrate, through a critical-philological analysis, that the Italian edition of the Divine Comedy used by Machado for this translation is of French origin, published in Paris in 1868 by the Firmin Didot publishing house.

Professor Brunello's article is published in the latest issue of the Brazilian academic journal Revista Brasileira de Literatura Comparada and is accessible online for free here.
