The Center for Italian Studies is pleased to announce this year’s Dante Society of America Graduate Reading Group, devoted to a selection of myths from Ovid and their reception in Dante.
Across three meetings, participants will read and discuss key Ovidian passages together with invited guests, with particular attention to how these myths are reworked, transformed, and reimagined in Dante’s poetry and in later literary traditions.

All meetings will take place on Zoom. Prior to each session, participants will receive a short list of primary passages and a small selection of secondary readings or pre-circulated papers.
The reading group is open to graduate students from all fields. No prior specialization in Ovid is required, and participation is warmly encouraged from anyone interested in Dante, classical reception, myth, and poetics.
