Co-sponsored by the Center for Italian Studies, the XX International Summer School in Dante Studies will be held in Ravenna and Verona, August 22–27, 2026.
The program brings together an international faculty of distinguished scholars for an intensive week of lectures and seminars exploring Dante, medieval culture, manuscript studies, and the Franciscan tradition.
The Center for Italian Studies is proud to serve as a co-sponsor of the Summer School, continuing its longstanding commitment to fostering international collaboration in Dante studies and supporting scholarly exchange between Italy and the United States.
Among the featured lectures, Ted Cachey, Albert J. and Helen M. Ravarino Family Director of the Center for Italian Studies and Professor of Italian at the University of Notre Dame, will join Giuseppe Ledda (Università di Bologna) in presenting Gli studi danteschi fra Italia e Stati Uniti: prospettive di ricerca a confronto (Dante Studies in Italy and the United States: Comparative Research Perspectives), a discussion of current research trends and future directions in Dante studies on both sides of the Atlantic. Professor Cachey also serves on the Summer School's scientific committee.
This year's program marks the twentieth edition of the Summer School, which continues to serve as a premier international forum for advanced study and interdisciplinary dialogue on Dante and his cultural legacy.
